Turned Wood Urn with Glass Lid

This handcrafted vessel is the newest piece in my ongoing collaboration with a talented young local woodworker—an artistic partnership that blends two mediums into one harmonious work of functional art. He turned the beautifully shaped vessel from Chinese Pistache wood, a species beloved in our region for its astonishing fall colors. Its warm grain, subtle tonal shifts, and smooth curves give the piece an organic elegance you can feel the moment it’s in your hands.

To complement his craftsmanship, I created a custom-fitted ornamental glass top, shaped and finished specifically for this vessel alone. The lid’s sculptural detailing and rich color work echo the natural vibrancy of Chinese Pistache foliage, transforming the piece into a refined marriage of wood and glass—each elevating the other.
